TOP FUEL - SEMI FINALS

Too many cars, not enough daylight. After several delays and a drastic drop in air temp the plug was pulled on Sunday and the final two rounds of racing would kick off at 11 AM on Monday. Thompson was suppose to race Adam Sorokin but both cars ended up being towed back to the pits {by way of the grandstand}. The other two cars towed back from the staging lanes.

Monday was cloudy and cool. With less than 100 cars left to run, the pits were pretty barren. Most everybody who didn't need to be there had gone home including most of the photographers.

The first pair was Howard Haight and Denver Schutz.

For Schutz it was an exercise in futility when he hit the throttle and nobody was home. The throttle linkage had broken and all Denver could do is watch Haight motor on down the track.

Not knowing Schutz was dead in the water Haight legged it to a 5.974 at 230.47.

It was between Adam Sorokin and Brad Thompson to see who would meet Haight in the final.

Sorokin went in deep and Thompson went off red. In an instant the final was set.

TOP FUEL - FINAL

Sorokin was out first and had all the race car he needed to just drive away from Haight.

We don't need no stinking pistons.... a stout 5.764 at 241.61 was more than enough to cash all the chips.

FUNNY CAR - FINAL

The 32 car funny car field boiled down to Leah Pruett-LeDuc and long time vet Gary Densham.

LeDuc had a slight advantage at the hit and from then on it was Plueger horespower.

Leah Pruett-LeDuc and Adam Sorokin both put on quite a show at The Patch - congrats to both.

SPEAKING OF FUNNY CAR

Our funny car coverage is extensive (a lot of photos) and consists of random shots from random sessions and rounds. I ended up with way too many photos and too little information to do them in any chronological order. Besides, nobody seems to care.
