after a fire up. There was a dozen or so cacklecars that got
a lot of fan attention. Due to the hosed up schedule the push
starts didn't happen.
Jim Ackland dropped
in from Canada to represent his Racing Taggz line and help promote
Project 1320. He was also an accomplice in more than
a couple of rowdy and now inside joke events. Right Joe?

A big hit over
the weekend was Dan Horan's new sponsor - the Joe Walla Band
that came out with all the trimmings including a hospitability
tent, all their stage show equipment and several ladies who were
very easy on the eyes.
On Thursday afternoon
John Ewald's Mastercar was loaded onto a flat bed for the 25
mile trip to Chuy's in Bakersfield where the Joe Walla Band would
perform to help promote the weekend.
At the
restaurant the Mastercar was flanked by 3 floppers.
It was
here that Walla got his first taste of nitro and was instantly
hooked.
The real Joe
Walla above, and the wanna be Joe Walla below - aka "240
Gordie" the Rock Star in the New Beginnings tent.
At the
track, the band preformed full shows on both Friday and Saturday
nights.
On Friday Lisa
Coil was right in the middle of things with Austin egging her
on (which doesn't take much).
The deal with
Horan's Mustang funny car includes Joe Walla Band performances
at all the nostalgia funny car events that Horan is competing
in. Check them out at a track near you. More at Joe
Walla Band
The Saturday
night show was opened by another Walla in the Mastercar fire
up and the crowd went wild.
Even
Nitro Man (aka Rev Cack) got his licks in.
Ron Capps was
right at home in Plueger's L.A. Hooker Mustang. He also made
the quickest pass ever in the class at 5.67.
Sharing the sky
basket with Dan Kaplan and John Ewald for a round of Top Fuel
was world famous photog Mark Rebelas.
Gene "Geno"
Gastelum and his sidekick Harley were given the task of putting
everyone where they belonged in a very full pit area then herding
the cats to the staging lanes on time.

When he wasn't

pits. Go figure.
Force
was all over the place including deeming the track "cold"
on Friday.

A meeting
of the minds ? looking at a new set of Goodyear NTF spec tires.
I don't
even know what to say about these....
Home
of the 55 gallon drum mystery gravy.
Here's some
of the other cars that put on a great show...
The extremely
cold weather on Friday made the track more than a little tricky
and there were 3 accidents, none resulting in injury other than
bank accounts.
Brad Thompson
in his new Warren Coburn Miller tribute car. This is on the forefront
of a proposed new class for "nostalgia" rear engine
top fuel cars. It is his old SuperComp car that was beefed up
for the engine out of his front engine TF car. It did everything
right on its maiden pass. The concept of the new class is getting
mixed reviews but I for one would be all in. This would be a
great toy for us older guys who don't see so good anymore. LOL
Ron & Kol
Johnson dusted off their Jr. Fuel car and made their first appearance
in several years.
And that's if folks. After
a month of sorting through and placing shots from this deal I'm
burnt... totally. Anybody want my job? I didn't think so. DE
