The Big Kids
We'll close our
Winternationals coverage with some random shots of the current
breed of Top Fuel and Funny Cars. We at WDIFL focus on our history
but cannot ignor the place our history has taken this sport.
It's been 58 years of blood, sweat and nitro that brought drag
racing to where it is today - good, bad or ugly.
For complete
results go to NHRA.com ... here, just enjoy some photos of the
action.

 Jack
Beckman is not only a WDIFL member but he is truly a student
of drag racing history... something that can be said for only
a handfull of the current drivers. If a cacklecar ride is open
- he's the first one in line. He's fired up both the BankAmericar
and Mastercar and done a Pomona push-start in the BankAmerica.
When the front engine Top Fuel cars and Nostalgia Nitro funnies
are running he's right up there watching. Add that to the fact
he's one hell of a nice guy. Jack Beckman - WDIFL.com salutes
you.
 As most
know, Larry Dixon Jr. is a second generation Top Fuel driver
and a damn good one. Larry Sr. won this race in 1971 in the last
front engine Top Fuel car to win the Winternationals.
 He's back.......
 Tony
P - round one. In less than three minutes after this shot was
taken the car was total junk after one of the worst engine explosions
in history.
Out and About
 The Nostalgia Nitro funny
car pits were laid back to say the least.
 Donny Couch sets the
mag on the Future Flash engine.
 Two of the greatest chassis
builders of all time - John Buttera and Steve Plueger.
 Speaking of Plueger,
he debuted his new car at the Winternats. It's as close to Plueger
& Gyger 1975 Mustang as the current rules allow and it looks
fantastic. Look for it to hit the track at the 2008 March Meet.
 John
Ewald and Gary Ritter. Ewald is wrapping up a complete restoraion
of Ritters 1970 Blood, Sweat & Nitro front engine Top Fuel
car.
 Steve
Montrelli and Nick Arias - a lot of history here.
 Roland
Leong oversees a warm-up of the Terry Capp driven Bubble-Up flopper.
 Bernie
Fedderly at his office in the Force Racing control center.
 Bad
hand aside, John Force was back doing what he does best, please
his fans.
 Don
Prudhomme's 300' TF dragster and Mike Fuller's 225" front
engine car share the staging lanes on Sunday.
