Other Cars 'n
People
Here
are a few random shots of other stuff going on at The Patch.
We'll start with the cars.
 Randy
Bradford and Ron Hope put on a great AA/FA exhibition on Saturday
and Sunday.
 To everyone's
delight, Mike Boyd also made some passes in the new Winged Express.
 Gary
Read was in the seat of the now running (blown fuel) and slowly
being restored 15 oz Coupe.

runner-up Claude Lavoie.
 Drew
Mraz
 Don't
know much about this slick Alterd but we know it came all the
way from Great Britain and the crew guys were having too much
fun.
 On one
of his passes the driver almost left some Englan paint on a Bakersfield
wall.
 No shortage
of back-up girls.
 This gal obviously picked
the wrong shoes to back somebody up in.
 Bucky
Austin's back-up girl (she did it from on top got the most attention.
DUH.
 Jess
Tyree used his years of experience to dodge a bullet on this
leave gone bad.
 Second
generation driver Jim Scott Jr.
 Jr. Fuel
'B' winner John Rasmussen.
Kin Bates had a rare bad outing in A-Fuel.
 Larry
Ofrea of Valley Head Service in his A/Gas '57.
 Lisa
Lavoie getting more laps in her A-Fuel car.
 Mark
McCormick in his Jr. Fuel 'B' entry.

Pits 'n People
 On Saturday
the Standard 1320 Group gathered for their annual photo. The
group gets bigger every year and there are many who were in attendance
who were unable to make the shoot.
 The
oldest car on the grounds was the legendary Bean Bandits circa
1953.

 Bucky
Austin's crew had a major thrash to get ready for the final.
 George
"The Bushmaster" Schreiber was sporting his Connie
Swingle memorial T-shirt.
 A very
ill John Buttera was on hand with the help of his son-in-law,
Ron Capp. John had to see the last front engine dragster he ever
built (BankAmericar) one more time.
 Cindy
Gibbs and Gas Rhonda
 Here's about 300 years
worth of drag racing history... Neil Leffler, Mike Kuhl, Bobby
Hightower and Wayne King.
 Chassis
builder - fabricator and Tom Ivo with the beautiful Showboat
replication that rolled out of Dyda's shop last month.
 Gary
Edwards and Rick Stewart who was having a ball during his weekend
off from the not so fun Big Show circuit.
 Among
the legions of vendors on had was Orah Mae and Robin Millar and
all their great DRAGcartoons collectibles.
 Who
reads DRAGcartoons? Why Evelyn Fuller of course.
 Don
Prudhomme was all over the place and by all accounts in a great
mood. Hummmmm
 Ron
Capps admires the Assassin cacklecar.
 Pat
and Don
 Don
Ewald, Fred Young, Ronnie Hampshire, Jeep Hampshire and Pete
Starrett.
 One
of the more popular pit spots on Saturday was the Tommy Ivo table
where he was on hand to sign everyone of the over 1000 free Ivo
posters given out.
 Ivo in a different environment
with Linda Vaughan.
There was no shortage of carnage throughout the pits.
 Without
a doubt the most bizarre mode of transportation on the grounds
was this slightly oversized shopping cart.
 Runner
up was this not so little red wagon.
 The
legendary Famoso push road.
 John
Ewald spent much of the weekend getting autographs on this old
dragster nose that will be raffled off for charity.
 Wayne
King and Tom McEwen are just two of the over 200 autographs on
the nose and the list is more than impressive.

nose collected at the 2007 CHRR
 Last
but not least, the "We Had The Most Fun" award went
to Anita "I crash golf carts" Smith and Pat "Ma"
Green.
